Many animals come to drink at our waterhole hide, as well as the saline pools at Mhondoro’s main lodge and Mhondoro Villa. On more rare occasions, leopard, cheetah, rhino and lion also visit. Although we have managed to film cheetah at the waterhole a few times, we have now finally captured a big male lion ‘in the act’. This video is just a few seconds long, however as you will see, he was totally relaxed with our presence, which is a great advantage for photographers making use of our waterhole hide.
This lion literally just walked in, quenched his first and meandered off. To the delight of our guests he then lay down for a nap, absorbing the warm sunlight on his full belly, in full view from the lodge deck.
